ARTISTIC INTERPRETATION
Helene sits calmly in the turbulent Carina Nebula. Carina is Latin for the keel of a ship. Helene holds steady on CARE's course. She is surrounded by her ongoing concerns: Hunger, Relief for Victims of Natural Disasters and Wars, and
Care's current campaigns: Maternal Mortality, the Education of Girls, Women's Savings & Loans Assoc., Global Warming and HIV/AIDS.
Named one of Foreign Policy magazine's "Top 100 Global Thinkers," she is enabled by her capacity to work long hours, travel nearly constantly, and still be gracious, optimistic and focused on social activism.
